OUR APPROACH

History begins with curiosity.

A place on a map. A familiar name. A date you want to understand. Orbessa starts with these small questions and opens the door to bigger stories.

An independent project.

Orbessa is created by Nicolas Blin with a simple idea: make history more accessible through places, stories and the connections between them. The project evolves through feedback from the people who explore it.

Stories grounded in sources.

Stories draw on cited sources, including museums, archives, institutions and research. Approximate dates and uncertainties should be identified. People appear in chapters where their role is relevant.

Images to help you imagine.

Editorial illustrations may be created with AI assistance. They are visual interpretations, not archive photographs or authenticated historical portraits. Their role is to accompany the story, not replace its sources.

A voice to keep the story going.

Available audio narration is in English and uses a synthetic voice. Stories can be read in English and French. In the app, you can read, listen and explore their places.

Your perspective matters.
